Vermont Workers’ Center members and Nonviolent Medicaid Army allies from across the region gathered in Montpelier last weekend, reflecting on the political and economic terrain following the elections and preparing for a new round of mass outreach to protect and expand Medicaid.
Since April 2023, as 25 million people were cruelly and unnecessarily purged from Medicaid by Congress and the Biden administration, the NVMA has led a Medicaid Cutoffs Organizing Drive, using door knocking, People’s Clinics, and other methods to connect with people on or unfairly excluded from the program.
With incoming President Trump’s vows to gut Medicaid and social services while increasing spending on deportations and the military, the NVMA is preparing to take the fight to Congress to protect Medicaid. Healthcare is a human right!
